Quiet preparation, friends

School vacation week.  We did not go away.  Andrew had a college recruitment camp and a college visit to Fordham.  Eliza participated in Tom's Awareness Day- April 16.  (I am sure she turned a few heads and a few calls went into DSS about a 14y walking barefoot.  We spent time at the Red Sox, science museum, and the movies.  I have been battling a head cold or allergies.  Anatomy and Physiology class ends in 2 weeks.  I have been preparing for the finals.

Frenzy has died down.  Peace has been restored :) Room is painted (thanks again, Aldous), dresser and rocker bought, some clothes bought, car seat bought (still in box).... We are concentrating on the humanitarian aid, now.

We can't wait to have this little cherub home and within our arms.  Because we are not yet in the thick of it, (It being... changing diapers, feeding, napping, playing with B)  we have time to reflect on the process of adopting.  The most unexpected fringe benefit from adopting has been the friends that I have made.  People who have gone out of heir way to drop off a care package for B, or to get a photo of her to hold us over until we get to hold the real deal:)  These friends have become part of our family dinner conversation and prayer as they travel to pick up their child, as they wait to see if they will be traveling, as they wait for court date, as they build wells, as they build muscles, or celebrate first birthdays.  The texture and landscape of our friendships has become richer and even more amazing than it was.  Thank you.

That is a precious post! I just sent you an email, I somehow failed to mention that our crew is headed your direction on Thursday!

I remember ALL of those precious people who were so willing to take pictures and send pictures and words of encouragement. I appreciated that so much and I know that you do, too! Can't wait until B is a physical part of your family, as I know she is truly a part of your family in your heart!!

relish this time, it has it's own richness and peace to it. And I am praying for court and travel for you and KNOW it is going to go swiftly and easily and well! And I am SO happy for you in that and join you in anticipation of your sweet beautiful toddler! Love m

Isn't it amazing that the busy-ness and frenzy you still find the moments of quiet and reflection. Sounds like you are getting things checked off the list - I hope that is making B feel that much closer to being home.

Ok, so I'm so behind on checking blogs..I've had so many extra kids lately that I haven't had a moment to check on people....Ok, so I'm a little "slow" these days, but I forgot we have the same court date...how cool is that?? Didn't you mention it before or am I dreaming that?? Maybe we'll be in ET at the same time....Ok, so I haven't even started getting the nursery ready...I guess I better get started :) kj

I am new to your blog but so excited about your journey and new daughter! I just wanted to say, is is so wise that you are working out, we adopted our son and daughter from Guatemala 1 1/2 years ago, our son was 2 1/2 at the time. I put my back out and was bed ridden for almost a month a few months after they came home for all the heavy lifting of two non infant size children that wanted and needed to be held all the time due to bonding and attachment. IT was horrible to not be able to care for them when I was hurt so keep up with the work outs, I never even thought about it! Also we got the Ergo baby carrier, our 10 month old and 2 year old both fit comfortably in it and it took a lot of pressure off our arms and back and kept them very close. It was great for traveling on the plane too.
Blessing on the rest of your journey!

I can't believe that you are so close to your court date!! So excited for you and can't wait to see photos of your little girl. Our dossier is off to D.C. today (we think) and should be back to ET by end of next week. Can't tell you the feeling of relief that I will have when that happens.
