New purpose!
Last week was hard, waiting. I told you I am not good at waiting. More than anything I felt like my wheels were spinning. Then we figured out one of the many things we need to be doing. We are on a mission. We are learning Amharic words and phrases. Even though we think that B may have spoken a different language or dialect, we know that she is being exposed to Amharic now. Our goals is to learn as much as we can before we travel. Yesterday, we have learned I love you, yes, no, hello, and goodbye. We are taping them up around the house. My house really will look like a large bulletin board by the time baby girl gets home (:

Ok, would have helped if I had seen this before I sent email! We have this program too. Have fun.
I also purchased that book and cd before we went to get our girls. We all had so much fun using the phrases in the book. We would slowly say the phrases, then Faven would smile and say it correctly.
Good idea to learn the phrases BEFORE you go! (o:
Oh, I need to get this!! Awesome info!!
Ellen
Great for you, with the purpose to learn the language.
I have to admit we learned not one word when we adopted the twins. But God was gracious, and it honestly didn't seem to matter a bit. I became a very good actress...
I love learning Amharic.
I wanted to tell you we made it through today!!! Send your package so we can take it to your little girl!
Thanks! We think so too. :) I am hoping we'll have the video thing done by tomorrow and that way you can see most of the pictures we have!
It's a great plan to learn as much as you can now. We have that book too and it has been so helpful. I wish I had learned more before we traveled, but still it is helpful. Mikaele sometimes takes the book and walks around saying the phrases to Ephrem since he always sees me reading out of it.
Hey Jen. Email me with a pic of your little girl and I'll see if we have pics of her. We probably do as she is the same age as Junia. Congrats on your referral! (:

that is so fun...good luck with your new language...I skipped foreign language in college as much as possible...:) A teaching degree didn't require it so that sealed the deal that I'd become a teacher ;) kj
Hi - just wanted to let you know that your husband met my sister-in-law this past week! She also grew up in H (random that 2 NY brothers found us - and we're 10 yrs apart), same last name and told him about us. It sounds like he may be like my husband and not know every detail about every other blog family! But ask him - I think they are doing business together. They were visiting us this weekend b/c we "re"-baptized Sophie today and Susan is her Godmother. Very small world!
This book is AWESOME and helped us SO much!
